MaryBeth Radeck Is a franchise owner of Caring Transitions in the Chicago Northwest Suburbs working in the Chicago Metro area for five years now. She previously worked as a project director and has a long background in marketing and advertising and promotions.
She switched lanes late in her career and now works as an auctioneer. Currently, her mission is to give families peace of mind by managing the details of senior relocation, estate liquidation, and rightsizing.
Hot Resale Items in Chicago
MaryBeth talks about the Chicago market:
“The landscape's changing. So it's changed in the last five years from “there's a goldmine in my house” to “this isn't worth anything anymore”, either one is not actually true. A lot of people are moving out of Illinois because of the taxes. So the volume of items that are on the market, the resale items that are on the market have gone up exponentially.
So it's a great buying mode. Great to buy our auctions because there's a lot of items that are available but the market's changed. So that's because the baby boom has basically started to downsize in addition to their parents moving into senior living. And so there's so much, so many very amazing things on the market. It's a really good time for buyers.”
Buy Precious Metals and Vintage Items
Because of this demand, it gives MaryBeth’s team a lot of opportunity due to her customers who are really looking for great collectibles. They’re looking for precious metals and vintage items mostly. This changed the way things happen because at the same time they've got this digital opportunity.
They have online auctions and that's what they do mostly because that's what people are looking for especially during the pandemic.
