Your College Criteria Personified

Your College Criteria Personified

Choosing the right college is one of the most important decisions that you will make in your life

There are a lot of things to consider when choosing a college and you should not only base your school of choice just because you "think" that they have the best ranking or education there is. You still have to look through the school's criteria such as the Academic, Social, and Financial. Having the knowledge on these aspects would let you know which college is best for YOU.

If you are having a hard time deciding, we are here to help you! We will make sure that you will be able to make the right decision and we will also make sure to help you reach your academic success.

In this chapter, Mr. Russ Vitale the founder of the Destination College, discusses six (6) topics that will help the students and as well as parents to know the criteria that should be considered when selecting the BEST school.

The College List Drives Everything and that is the truth. Why? Because it drives the students' potential to actually get admitted to a school. The students and the parents should carefully plan this process and build the most realistic college list because this will help them achieve the results that they desire.

Now, let us get in to the criteria. The first criteria to be discussed is the Academic Criteria. This focuses on discussing academic related topics such as the types of classes, potential majors, academic competitiveness and as well as the academic support that the school can offer to the students. The second criteria talks about the Social Criteria. In this discussion, it was discussed that the learning and social environment is one factor to the performance of the student. If the students are receiving the most effective learning environment, thus, it can make them transition from high school to college smoothly and it can also make them perform at their very best state.

It is very important to understand the basics of Financial Aid 101 as there are various types and key terms you will see during this process. There are so many things to consider in order for you to determine the type of financial aid that fits you and your family. You also have to take note that even when your child's desired school knows that you need aid in regards to finances, it is not certain that you will get 100% of that need.

The last criteria is the Financial Criteria. This focuses more on discussing the forms, process, and as well as looking at the possible total cost of college. This discussion will let the parents deeply understand on the financial aids that can be given by their school of choice. Whether it is by merit scholarships or need-based aids. But they should take note that there is may be a possibility that they and their student might not qualify on these aids.

After all of these being said, Application Presentation is next to be prepared for during this process. This is VERY important because this is one way for schools to check the capabilities and differences of EVERY student. Various application components and strategies will be talked about in the Application Strategies discussion so I extremely suggest that the students, along with their parents, should join us to get an idea on how to successfully achieve this whole process.

I must say, it is not easy to develop a strategic plan that will guide you on your way to success when entering to college. It takes a lot of time, effort, and resources before you get the results that you want to see. There will also be that moment where you find yourself not achieving the goals that you desire and you will feel like it does not help you get where you want to be. Well in that case, I bet it is time for you to revisit your roadmap and modify it once again.
